A handful of the R4R community sat around a table just a few years ago, asking each other, what are we going to do with all of this momentum…? Better not bigger was where we arrived… But as we became better, we got bigger.
Saving one life from suicide, as many times as possible.
The irony is that making Canberra suicide-free is a big goal, but we believe that the only sustainable way to get there is always trying to help that one person, as many times as we can… by always trying to be better.
Whenever we make a decision, we’re always considering how it impacts one life, because a suicide-free Canberra isn’t one where all vulnerable people are saved in one big net…
It’s one person being saved at a time… by themselves, by their community, or by the services available that we hope to shine a light on.
We know our community believes the same thing… and in our recent podcast, Mark Nicholson echoes the sentiment of better not bigger with “we look for big solutions to problems, and that’s not what Mental Health is about. It’s about helping that one person”
And to help that one person, we need to keep getting better… but we need your help by completing a short three minute survey.
After your done… two more things…
