Meet the R4R Runners #59
Welcome to the 59th edition of the Meet the R4R Runners. Last week we got to meet Dinesh, and this week we get to meet his good mate, Kali. I’ll never forget the first time I met Kali because at his first run, he completed the 6km wearing jeans!
A different kind of resilience!
Aside from when he’s motoring past on a Friday morning, he’s always keen to have a chat and always has a smile on his face when doing so. It’s great having people like Kali as part of our community. So without further ado, let’s meet him!
What is your name?
Where are you from?
What's your favourite thing about Canberra?
The small town and beautiful hills.
How did you hear about R4R and when did you first attend?
My family friend (Dinesh) introduced me to R4R
What's your favourite thing about R4R?
Run for your health and life. Get the stress out
What would you like to see R4R do?
Continue what you (R4R) do
What's the longest you've ever run?
What does resilience mean to you?
Resilience is a much-needed quality in life. Staying resilient is life.
When you look back on the hardest moment/s in your life, is there anything you wish you could have told yourself?
The hardest part in life losing your better half or wife. Losing can be dying or when you realise your partner is not what you thought. Digesting this part at 40 years can make you sick and mentally ill. But life is about acceptance, resilience, and moving forward. Think of your duty and purpose in life. God does everything for a purpose. Change can be frightening but is always good. Start again fresh, with a clean slate.
Around the Grounds
Lili Mooney maintains her grip on the R4R Park Run Mantle… but not without a scare from photographer extraordinaire, Scotty Imhoff!
Canberra Running Festival
Join us for the Canberra Times Running Festival on April 16, 2023! This event has something for everyone, whether you want to run a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, or the 2K kids run. If you don’t have a team already, we invite you to sign up for the ‘Running for Resilience’ team and celebrate together after the race, at either the Jetty or the Dock (we’ll confirm closer to the date).
Holi-Festival of Colour
An idea courtesy of community legend Singh - R4R is getting into the spirit of “Holi-Festival of Colour”. Everything will be as per normal and there’s no pressure to take part. But for those keen, there will be some free powder colour available, and please BYO if you can. After the run, csbd.cbr will host a Bollywood dance tutorial for those with a bit of energy left over!
The Jeans for Genes day charity organisers should sign him up!
