Welcome to the 38th edition of the ‘Meet the R4R Runners’, where this week, we get to meet Ruby. I first met Ruby as part of the Lulu contingent that attends R4R and I love the energy she brings.
Ruby took part in our City2Surf trip, helping to make it a roaring success and likely feature in the R4R Calendar. We’re stoked to have Ruby as part of our community and we’re excited to see her answers!
Where are you from?
Born Griffith NSW but have lived in Canberra since I was 15
What's your favourite thing about Canberra? (apart from R4R obviously)
Lonsdale street; gyming and coffee with my girlfriends there most mornings makes me so happy
How did you hear about R4R and when did you first attend?
I heard about it from my colleagues at lululemon and came for the first time on Friday morning the 5th of March 2022
What's your favourite thing about R4R?
The community and endlessly supportive vibes on Wednesday nights actually warms my heart
Is there anything you'd like to see R4R do?
I did C2S over the weekend and it was a truely amazing day- absolutely a core memory unlocked. Would LOVE to see R4R get around these little day trip races
Have you ever run a marathon before? If so, how'd you go?
This gets a hard no from me.
Are you planning on taking part in any races or events soon?
Hoping to get a full triathlon in at Huskisson this November
Which three people (alive or dead) would you like to run 6km with?
Jacinta Ardern, Nelson Mandela, and my best friend Kelsey (despite having run 14km with her just two days ago)
What does resilience mean to you?
It means courage and kindness to oneself.
When you look back on the hardest moment/s in your life, is there anything you wish you could have told yourself?
I believe the hardest moment of my life is one that is yet to happen. Something I try and do everyday is practice internally sourced strength and love that will help pull me through when I really need it.
Great answers, Ruby. Thanks!
Just. Keep. Moving.
LuluLemon Merchandise
Ruby is part of the Lulu Crew and next week (21st of September), we’ll be taking orders and payments for Lulu / R4R merchandise. The shirts have been generously subsidised by Lulu and R4R the price will be determined by cost (approx. $70).
We couldn’t hold out any longer on letting people purchase merchandise but we want to maintain the effort over donations policy. So whilst you will be paying money for the shirts, no money will go to R4R… the way we like it.
There will be a maximum of 75 shirts for Males and 50 shirts for Females based on stock, so if you’re interested, please make sure you’re there on Wednesday night next week!
T-shirts sound amazing. What if you can't make it to Wednesday nights?
