Last weekend I received a WhatsApp message from a friend who was in a bit of strife. He had just received a note from HR that his job was under threat and he was reaching out.
I was just about to tuck in to my post-Parkrun brekkie when I received his note from the USA. There was a bit of back and forth on the chat and then I noticed that I had missed a call from him. His next note said not to worry if I was busy and perhaps we could catch up later.
Now this lad has a bit of history of mental fragility. As I sat there finishing my brekkie, I was thinking of some of the R4R stories we have heard about calls missed and opportunities to help that slipped by. I said to my wife "I have to call him now".
I did and we had a long chat. Now, I don't know what he may or may not have done and the future is a foreign country, but what I do know is that it was R4R and our story telling that meant I was not prepared to "wait until tomorrow" to speak to my friend and why I called him there and then.
So, don't wait. It is good to talk and there is no time like the present to have those conversations.
Thanks R4R.
Thank you, David. I couldn’t have put it better myself.
