We’re taking a momentary pause in the Meet the R4R Runners to reflect on what’s been, what’s happened recently, and where we’re headed.
Meet the Runners was first thought of when Cam Dyson-Smith recommended something called “why we run”, and it consisted of one paragraph from each runner.
Before long,
sourced some inspiration from and the interviews he was posting, suggesting that R4R do the same.Want to take part in the R4R Rag? Please click on the link below!
In November 2021, Benny became the first cab off the rank and the current iteration of Meet the Runners was born. But then something happened…
When we interviewed Lili Mooney, she shared something about herself that required a courageous level of vulnerability, and it showed the way forward.
Over 2 years, we’ve met 81 R4R community members, 4 special guests, a handful of communities… and even my dog, Mate!
Each respondent has shared something about themselves and spoke in a way that’s reached people we couldn’t have.
Our community began to build its own understanding of resilience, and when we released our first edition of Re-meet the Runners… something else happened…
Our community had grown its understanding of Mental Health.
As our community speaks, our community learns more about itself, and the more we learn about ourselves, the more resilient we’re becoming.
Most recently, our community has started to speak its mind through our Guest Article Series, and in the same way we’ve already grown our understanding, it’s growing that much more.

As a community, we’ve shared each other’s paths for nearly four years, each of us experiencing life in different ways, and each of us trying to ‘Just. Keep. Moving.’, however we can, in good times and bad.
We’re united in our belief that no one is destined for suicide, that we can achieve our goal of a suicide-free Canberra, and that regardless of the hurdle in front of us, there is always a way to overcome it.
But let’s not forget one thing… each time we get together at
to run or walk, we have fun with each other. Many of us are forming new friendships and strengthening old ones.Whether it be our progress towards our goal or the fact that we enjoy each other’s company, we think it’s worth celebrating.
Here’s to us.
How bloody good!
