Welcome to the 101st edition of the Meet the R4R Runners. This week, we get to meet Nina, and despite notching up more than 100 stories shared, the quality doesn’t dip at all. Nina has provided some great answers and a potential idea for R4R to include on any given run or walk. So, without further ado, let’s meet Nina!
What is your name?
Nina
Where are you from?
Sydney bred but (mostly) Canberra raised!
What's your favourite thing about Canberra?
The open spaces and it’s proximity to the snow
How did you hear about R4R and when did you first attend?
I first heard about R4R from the Dock’s Instagram, and started attending early 2022. I admittedly had a bit of a hiatus, but have been back consistently the last few months.
What's your favourite thing about R4R?
The positive mental health message it’s built on and the amazing community it’s become. Oh and the cute dogs…
What would you like to see R4R do?
A bit of a dynamic stretching warm up, especially in these colder months? My bestie Court has volunteered to help out too!
What's the longest you've ever run?
Look I don’t talk about it very much…. ;) but 42.2km for the Queenstown marathon
Are you planning on taking part in any races or events soon or are there any just gone?
Hopefully the Sydney marathon (if the body cooperates)
Which three people (alive or dead) would you like to run or walk 6km with?
Usain Bolt: who wouldn’t want to be able to say they ran with the fastest man alive
Forrest Gump: so I could yell the obvious…
Taylor Swift: she must be crazy fit from her Eras tour
What does resilience mean to you?
The ability to keep trying when everything seems against you, to persevere when all you want to do is stop.
When you look back on the hardest moment/s in your life, is there anything you wish you could have told yourself?
You will get through this, it will get better.
Thanks, Nina!

Run for the Forests
This Saturday (June 1st), several members of the R4R community will be running 30 km or volunteering to help save Tallaganda State Forest near Canberra. You can read more about this initiative here.
Great stuff Nina! Pre run stretch is a great idea and keen to chat with Court about it!
