It’s been a busy time recently and truth be told, we didn’t have any Meet the R4R Runners in the barrel to fire out to you all. We’ll try fix that, and if you could help us by filling out the questionnaire yourself or getting someone else from R4R you know to, that would be great!
Despite this, R4R has been hitting its stride by setting winter number records, partnering with Capital Athletics, and working on a couple exciting things in the background… watch this space
We’ve also continued to champion efforts from our own community for initiatives that help improve the world around us. We saw this with Will Mackay organising the Food Drop and Donation opportunities for Helping ACT, and we’ll see it with some of the upcoming events listed below.
On that note, if there are any causes you’d like our help to support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at run4resilience@gmail.com
Given the break in our newsletter as normal, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you. Our community is made up of different people doing different things, all in the pursuit of a suicide-free Canberra… and it’s making a difference.
R4R is nothing without you all.
Thank you.
Bravehearts 777 Marathon
R4R stalwart Jess Peil is taking part in the Bravehearts' 777 Marathon, meaning she will run 7 Marathons in 7 States in 7 Days to raise funds and awareness for the prevention of child sexual abuse. This will be her sixth consecutive year running, having raised over $160,000 and more than $50k this year alone!
The Blood Run
In June 2022, Callan Gates set out to run the 250km Great North Walk Trail, ascending over 9000m, to raise funds and awareness for Leukaemia research, a disease that deeply affected his family.
Join the Running for Resilience team at 6pm on the 29th of July for a run from The Dock, followed by a screening of The Blood Run movie at 7:15pm, with all proceeds going to the Leukaemia Foundation.
We’ve officially booked out the City 2 Surf Bus and if we’re able to get 30 more people to commit, we’ll book another bus… Imagine that! What a day it would be sending two busloads of R4R Runners to Sydney! You won’t have to pay upfront, but please only register if you’re serious about attending.
