I’m often asked why I think R4R has grown so much.
Something is obviously working, and I think it’s because it’s become like a Tesla charging station—but for people.
And by that, I mean it helps them recharge and get through their week.
6pm every Wednesday, people arrive tired from work.
But somehow they find the energy to exercise before catching up with friends over a drink, and leave feeling great.
The electric car charging analogy isn’t perfect.
But it’s the best way I can think of to describe the impact of having.
Especially as we’ve launched more runs/charging stations from The Jetty and the Uni of Canberra to help more people feel great.
And while it’s hard to describe in words, it’s easy to feel why it’s working if you come to one of our runs, particularly the Wednesday night one.
It’s the closest thing I’ve felt to the energy I got from entering a stadium before a big game.
And a feeling I miss in retirement.
The energy I get from being surrounded by people all riding their ‘runner’s high’ while chatting with friends is contagious, and exactly what I needed when I was burned out and depressed.
And to hear it’s helping others recharge and overcome tough times is incredible.
We’re also getting weekly offers from people volunteering their time and energy to help pursue a suicide free ACT.
A mission we think is possible.
If you’re one of the people who’s offered to volunteer, thank you.
Your generosity fuels us to work harder, and soon we’ll be organised enough to put your energy to good use.
If you’d like to volunteer to help build a ‘people charging network’, then email hello@runningforresilience.com and we’ll be in touch.
Cheers,
Ben
Thank you!
It was a massive effort from Johnny V and the Sunday Sippers to organise the 100km fundraiser, and it’s been an incredibly generous response from the people supporting it. Thank you to everyone involved.
